My name is Darrell and I am an entrepreneur. I have been an entrepreneur in some fashion for more than ten years and have learned a lot in that time. I am not an expert but I hopes that hearing a few of my ideas will help you as you pursue your dreams.
It is simple: I want to see your dreams become reality.
MY STORY WILL TELL YOU WHY
A few moments stick out in my memory when I think back to my childhood.
First I remember being in third grade, and my teacher Mrs. Gardner seeing potential in me for numbers and business suggested that I participate in a program where we got to shadow someone at work. She suggested her husband who was a CPA.
From this small farming community, this was a big deal, and I remember for the first time being noticed as someone who could be a businessman, which from where I grew up meant I wouldn’t end up working in a chemical or auto factory.
I also remember, always have ideas to make an extra buck. Whether it was setting up a stand near the side of the road to sell the vegetables from our garden, or maximizing the chores my dad would give me, I was always happy to take control of my situation by working an extra hour (or ten) to have some extra money.
Not long ago, as I was doing some soul searching I asked my parents why they didn’t push me to be an entrepreneur at a young age. It seemed too obvious to me looking back that I was destined for this path. Their response shook me a bit. They said, “Tell us, one person, we knew that would have given us the context to know your skills and personality were bent towards being an entrepreneur.”
You see, it’s that exact reason that the word dream is so important to me. Until I was 24 years old and I read a simple manifesto from Chris Guillebeau, I had no idea that everything inside of me was destined for a career as an entrepreneur.
Until then, it was just a dream to me.
Until then, I was destined to be frustrated and limited in my work.
Until then, I didn’t have someone to look to who was doing what I didn’t even know I wanted to do.
For me, as a kid from a small town midwest. The grandson of a farmer and the son of a tradesman, my dream was everything to me. It drove me to search and search for something that would allow me to fulfill the perfection of my calling.
So yes, I am a dreamer. And I am passionate about helping other people accomplish things they could only dream are possible.
Welcome to my blog. Here I am going to share some of my insights as an entrepreneur.
